this should be technology at its best .
cars running 30 kilometres or more on a litre of diesel.
great indeed. but the catch is that these cars are costly.
costlier than cars running on petrol.
so the common man ends up buying petrol cars.
and he gets mileage of 10 kilometres or less.
so the rich people run their cars for as little
as one rupee per kilometre while the common man
spends around four rupees for the same kilometre.
so the hike in petrol price hits the midle class,
who drive two wheelers and petrol cars, the most.
but we are told that petrol price is allowed to go up
( while the diesel price is still held down )
as it affects only the rich.
so much for indoctrinating the public. but why the
technology which gives 30 kilometres per litre
of diesel is not adopted in petrol cars remains a mystery.
or why diesel is still subsidised ( shifting the cost
to the exchequer which in turn loads onto the tax payer )
is not clear. if the argument is that goods are transported
using diesel vehicles then what is holding up the adoption
of the high mileage common rail technology in our trucks
and goods carriers is not clear

conservation and all that
let us not destroy the trees. that is fine. but tree is an asset. let us not be foolish not to exploit this asset. allow the trees to grow to its full strength . then cut them and use them. even if it is for the good of the world let us not abstain from utilising our natural resources. the countries which forbid us now are the ones who exploited forests and all other resources mercilessly and in the process overtook the other nations.
but it does not mean that we should deplete our forests. in fact we should increase the forest . and we can . plant more trees. for every tree that is cut ensure that two trees are planted and nurtured.
let us grow trees cut and use the trees and grow more trees

global warming and such great issues
to be frank i am thoroughly confused
about great issues like global warming,
deforestation perils etc .
latest of these great issues is overexploitation
of ground water. what will happen if we draw out the
water ? will it escape from the earth or will it
circulate in our system in the form of rai ?

traffic jam in kochi
kochi is a fortress bound by three bridges . no one can approach kochi thru any other route.
solution to the traffic vows of kochi has to start from these bridges. when i see the signal lights being installed on the south bridge i am surprised . how come someone in authority is seeing things in the right perspective. are we seeing some really effective steps to ease the traffic in the city.
may be . buses were recently diverted thru the canal road and the congestion did reduce . and the present move to allow traffic in both the lanes in one direction during rush hour may pay off.
if things are thus moving in the right direction shouldnt you and e join the moveent ? here is y suggestion
reinstall the manual gate system at railway junction. please dont laugh. i did not say close downthe bridge. i mean open up this additional passage. quite a few passengers going to and coming from the railway station can thus avoid the bridge.
not a small gain.
yes. we need to put up proper signals at the gate and at the mouth of the bridge. passengers should use this route only after ensuring that the line is clear. they should be signalled about this well in advance.
doesnt it involve additional cost ? negligible my lord if we compare the saving in cost of diesel alone. will the railways permit ? i dont see any vaild grounds for objection. we are only trying to use the railway line when it is idle .
purpose of this post is not to bring idea to the authorities. i know how difficult it is. if aam admi like you and me join and discuss i wouldbe happy.

traffic block in ernakulam
the main bottlenecks are the bridges south and north.
why not reintroduce the manned gates ?
the gate will remain open most of the time
especially in the south. a lot of small vehicles
can thus avoid the bridge.
a few years back we had these manned gates and
nothing else . why not bring them back as an emergency
measure

road repair
kerala roads are in gutters.
govt says conrators are playing games.
why not permit/encourage
bus owners association to repair
the roads. after all they stand to gain
the most from good roads.
